Doug asked me one day how early we could start Brody skiing. I thought this was a joke, but he was serious so we did some research (good old goggle!) and found out that some people start their kids as early as 18 months so we figured we could try!

He isn't very sure on his feet (supposed it doesn't help that he was wearing boots 3 sizes to big and he weighs next to nothing) but he sure had fun. You can hear him laughing as he get closer to the camera!

not sure who had more fun - the proud father or the happy son

Mom, Dad and Janesta sent a parcel to us with birthday presents in it. This year Brody actually understands presents. The paper is fun, the box is fun... but the best part is that there is a toy inside! However, he is still unclear on when to open presents. So, as we unpacked the parcel, Brody began to unwrap presents! Good thing he isn't very fast at it!

In January, Doug was longing for the beach and decided to hang one of our Ecuadorian hammocks in our bedroom! Brody loved it because it was a huge swing!

The static in his hair was unreal

Brody was a little afraid of the water at first, but sure loved the sand!

After a while he got used to the water and actually enjoyed playing in the "bubbles"!

Eventually he got so brave that we had to stay close or this would happen...

And once we knew he was no longer afraid of the water we always had to be watching him...

In December we spent 18 days in Hawaii. Since we were going for Christmas and visiting Doug's brother and his wife, taking Brody with was a "no-brainer".

We didn't have a "lay-on-the-beach-and-do-nothing" vacation. I don't think such thing exists when you bring a 20 month old with you. It was very fun to watch him explore his new surroundings, play in the sand, splash in the ocean and chase after wild chickens!!

Apparently I didn't take any video again (or at least none worth posting) until November 2010 when mom and dad (grandma and G-daddy) came to visit for "early Christmas"

Mom found a duplo train set that was a real hit with Brody! It came complete with a barn and some animals as well.

He still gets a bit distracted at time! Guess he was done playing with G-daddy for now!
One of the highlights of the summer was going out to Covenant Bay for Family Camp and Middle Camp.

Grant Johnson was the speaker at Middle camp and ironically we all stayed in the "speakers cabin" together.

Grant and Brody are great buds and I am so grateful that "the boys" love Brody and don't just tolerate him because he is our kid.

You can tell by his stance that he doesn't just listen to music, but he really analyzes what he is listening to! I also notice in this one how much his speech has improved.
I have been next to useless on this whole blog thing. I read other people's blogs and think how nice it is that they keep them up to date so we can all know what is happening in their lives. Today I thought I would check to see when the last time I posted something - surely it couldn't have been that long ago!

*hangs head in shame

Ok so I will try and catch up. There are a few videos from recently that I was thinking of posting, but I think it seems more appropriate to put them in some sort of chronological order and so I am going back, Waaaay back to the summer...

This was July 18, 2010. A fun day at the playground. Brody got into a nice little circuit of going up the stairs himself and then going down the slide himself. This particular time was kind of cute because he got up there and then notices there is a rock on the other slide! *gasp

Luckily Brody was there to clean up the slide - if only he could find the correct pebble at the bottom of the slide!
